Fantasy castles

Our most spectacular creations to date

We love making castles. There’s something about their design and construction that seems to take us right back to childhood. These large castles are an evolving design. The basic format works really well. They’re spacious, they have multiple rooms and areas, and plenty of scope for adding activities. It just seems that each time we’ve made one we’ve pushed the sylistic features even further each time. Several now have been built to connect to a separate play-tower, and have incorporated tube slides, nest swings, hump bridges and more.

About our children’s play castles.

In their simplest for castles can be quite boxy. Our job as designers is to use and develop the he themes and opportunities to create something that has much more depth and interest than just interconnected boxes. So we use curved doors and windows. We create sweeping curves to the battlements and castellations. Shields provide character and personalisation. The pyramid cedar roofs add angles and softer textures while the piping gives sophistication and grandeur.

We line these castle internally, and then paint them inside and out (unless you ask us not to, the natural look looks fantastic as well). We use cedar shingles for the roofs, not only for the way they look, but also because they are a proper roofing material. All our castles are tall enough inside for an adult to stand up in.

The process

These bespoke buildings do take time to build. Once we’ve carried an initial phone consultation we will want to come and see you. It’s really important to survey the site where it is going. This meeting is also an opportunity to explore all the possibilities of design, different pieces of equipment and personalisation touches that will help make these unique building really come alive for you and your children.

Buying a Design Create Play playhouse or climbing frame

We like to work with our customers to ensure that what we are building for you is going to be a seamless and trouble-free process. Often the best way to start is to give us a call (01404 598328) or drop us an email at [email protected]. We can talk through the options and possibilities with you, and discuss the specifics of you garden.

In many cases a visit to site can be useful. We’ll bring a tape measure, some blank paper, and plenty of photographic examples of our work for you to look at. We don’t charge for making site visits. Usually at the end of a visit it is possible to give you a price. Sometimes it may be necessary to go away and work up a design and a quotation.
Once you are happy with the design and proposal we will raise our Sales Order. We ask for a deposit of 40% of the value of the order. This can be paid online direct to our bank account, or we can take card payments over the phone, and as long as our bank still takes cash we’re happy to accept that too!

Once a sales order is in place and a deposit has been paid we will make the product in our workshop. We aim for a delivery and installation within 6 weeks of ordering, at busy times this may be a little more but is almost always within 8 weeks.

We deliver and install all our playhouses and climbing frames ourselves. Most playcentres are installed within one or 2 days. Large bespoke projects may take 3 or more days to build in your garden.
