We look back at some of the stunning playhouses and climbing frames we’ve built in 2024
1. A large playcentre in Worcestershire based on a Cotswold Tudor Manor House
We started 2023 with this stunning project near Kidderminster in Worcestershire. The installation team were fortunate that we had a run of cold, but very bright and crisp days to work in.
We make a number of large luxury playhouses, and have extended our range to include a range of castles that provide a number of internal play rooms, but this house was a further development, a complicated design, that took its inspiration from Tudor manor house in the Cotswolds. The multiple arched windows make for a unique, light and appealing interior space. The split level design inside creates a number of different areas inside the playhouse. The whole playhouse was lined and painted internally as can be seen from the photo below.
The playhouse was the centre piece of this large playcentre, featuring 2 towers, one of which was the very unique design of Hexagonal tower. Rope bridges, nest swings and plenty of climbing frame and swing activities make this a very comprehensive playcentre.
2. Stunning adapted Badger Lodge in Cheshire
A personal favourite. Our Badger Lodge playhouse is a classic 2 storey design, with bags of charm and character. The all wood construction has a solid wood floor as well as a mezzanine level that is spacious. The lovely cedar shingle roof has a dormer window over the door that increases the space upstairs. The house is fully lined and painted inside so that the walls are completely flat and resemble the plastered and painted walls of a real house.
For this particular project took our badger lodge and added an external balcony, accessed by double doors from the upper level in the playhouse. The balcony enabled us to add a slide and steps for easy external access.
3. Gloucester castle
We love making bespoke castles. This one had a raised main castle/playhouse, with an open den underneath. With slide, swings and climbing wall, as well as other activities there is plenty keep children active. As much as anything, its the details that count, things like the arch top door and windows really add character. And the cedar shingles on the roof always look stunning. In the case the swing beam was had a daisy seat and trapeze bar. A feature, visible on this project, is the stainless steel fireman’s pole, after years of trying to source a better alternative to the painted poles, we’ve found these an love them. No rust an really robust.
4. Forest playhouse climbing frame in Clitheroe, Lancashire
Our Forest range of playhouse climbing frames have proved as popular as ever this year. There are a number of standout builds, but this one in the Forest of Bowland in Lancashire was particularly memorable. The finished playcentre in dappled Lancastrian sunshine in the late afternoon of a glorious summers day made the finished playcentre look even more stunning and ready for play.
The Forest playhouse climbing range of wooden playhouse climbing frames is a range of garden play centres that include single platform units, such as the Forest Adventure playhouse climbing frame, to the Forest Mega Combo playhouse climbing frame, with a play tower linked by a wooden clatter bridge, with slide, scramble nets and climbing wall, monkey bars, and children’s garden swings. All feature our amazing freestanding treehouse, the Forest playhouse.

5. Multi-platform playhouse climbing frame in Warwickshire
We like to think that we can work in any space and come up with something that not only fits, but preserves the key features of the surrounding space. In this bespoke project in Warwickshire the available space was quite wide but wasn’t particularly deep. Additionally, the connecting access though the wall had to be maintained. As always, complications like this become a feature, and an opportunity to be creative and to show off our design and construction skills.
